Unaware: Radio host Kyle Sandilands made a bit of a gaffe on Thursday while speaking to pop star Samantha Jade about her late mother, Jacqueline

‘I talk exactly like my mum, if anyone had met my mum,’ Samantha said, to which Kyle responded: ‘Is your mum hot as well?’

‘My mum was a hottie,’ she replied, using the past tense.

Kyle added: ‘She was a hottie? She’s lost her looks, is that what you’re saying?’

‘No, no… she passed away,’ Samantha replied.

‘Oh my God, that’s right…’ Kyle said, as Samantha went on to praise her mother.

‘She was a hottie. When we used to go out to have coffee, people would be like, “Is that your sister?”‘ she said.

‘You’re one of those! “Which one’s the daughter, which one is the daughter,”‘ the shock jock added, brushing off the gaffe.

Jacqueline died in 2014, four months after she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Samantha said in a statement at the time: ‘Our beautiful mother Jacqueline Deans Gibbs passed away peacefully with family by her side.

‘She fought until the very end with the strength and grace by which she lived her life and will be deeply missed.

‘We appreciate your kind words, prayers, and respect for our family during this very difficult time.’

Jacqueline’s diagnosis came just days before Samantha made her acting debut playing Kylie Minogue on the Channel Seven miniseries INXS: Never Tear Us Apart.

The former X Factor winner immediately rushed back to her family home in Perth to take care of her mother, who was 51 when she died.

Samantha is set to marry her fiancé Pat Handlin, the son of former Sony Music Australia CEO Denis Handlin, later this year.

They already postponed their nuptials several times in 2020 due to Covid.
