Kylie Jenner is accused of copying YouTuber for Stormi collection

Kylie Jenner has been accused of copying a beauty YouTuber’s looks for her collection inspired by her newborn daughter Stormi.

The reality star, 20, released a new ‘weather’ collection yesterday, a month after the birth of her daughter. With product names such as ‘Eye Of The Storm’ and ‘Calm Before The Storm’, the new line includes eye shadow and highlighter palettes as well as lip products.

Kylie Cosmetics, Kylie’s enormously popular make-up brand, started sharing photos of looks created with the latest products on social media a few days ago, teasing the release of the new line.

High-profile: Jaclyn, based in Tampa, Florida, has a whopping 4.9 million subscribers on YouTube

It didn’t take long for Twitter users to point out on the platform that one of the photos shared by Kylie Cosmetics seems strikingly similar to one posted by YouTube star Jaclyn Hill, 27.

Jaclyn, based in Tampa, Florida, has a whopping 4.9 million subscribers on YouTube, and in July 2017 shared a tutorial with none other than Kylie’s sister Kim Kardashian, 37, who at the time had just launched her own beauty line.

‘Kylie is coming for your brand,’ someone told Jaclyn on Twitter next to a photo of two almost identical make-up looks.

Another person added about Jaclyn: ‘I was wondering if I was the only one who instantly thought she looked like Kylie!’

One of the images shows Kylie donning green eye shadow all around her eyelids with highlighter in the corners of her eyes, paired with a glittery, light pink lip.

The other features Jaclyn with a very similar face of make-up, with a comparable smoky eye and rosy lip color.

Jaclyn shared two photos of herself with this specific make-up look six days ago, which led people to say Kylie had probably taken her photos weeks earlier, suggesting that it was unlikely she had in fact copied Jaclyn.

The YouTuber herself appeared to think it was a preposterous idea, and responded to one of the tweets alerting her to the similarity with: ‘LMAO!!’

This prompted another Twitter to chime in, writing: ‘This is dumb. Kylies [sic] photos were probably taken weeks ago considering how much editing and processing it takes to release product promotional pictures.’

Jaclyn seemed to agree and responded: ‘Exactly. I’ve had 6 people tweet me saying she’s copying & it’s literally impossible!’

In her photo, Jaclyn can be seen wearing yellow, pink, and green eye shadow, all of which are part of Kylie’s latest range.

The snap also highlights her shimmery lips, on a texture that looks extremely similar to the one displayed in one of Kylie’s close-ups.

This is not the first time Kylie has been accused of copying someone else’s designs or ideas.

In December last year, not long after Rihanna released her acclaimed, inclusive foundations and concealers with a broad range of shades, Kylie Cosmetics launched a line of concealers that appeared to replicate Rihanna’s celebrated initiative.

‘Kylie Jenner trying to salvage her make-up line before the holidays by copying Rihanna’s concealer range is a metaphor to me trying to save the semester,’ someone wrote on Twitter.

In June 2017, the independent brand PluggedNYC accused Kylie of copying its camo designs, sharing photos of Kylie’s garments next to its own creations.

Tizita Balemlay, the creative director and founder of the brand, also shared screen grabs of email conversations that appear to show a member of Kylie’s team asking for some PluggedNYC clothes to be sent to the star just a month prior.
