Brits couldn’t get pop princess Kylie Minogue out of their heads this summer

Brits couldn’t get pop princess Kylie Minogue out of their heads this summer as her sparkling wine flew off the shelves.

Sales of the Aussie singer’s tipples hit £9.6million, 25 per cent higher than sales between June and August last year, when Kylie was celebrating a come-back in the charts with Padam Padam.

And this year, despite the UK’s lacklustre weather, her wine sales have gone from strength to strength.

This includes sales in supermarkets and discount stores such as B&M.

‘Kylie’s brand has consistently grown over the last few years, even during a time where alcohol sales have struggled,’ Tom Oakton, analyst at consumer data firm NIQ, said.

The singer shared a video this week of her at a drinks industry event in Provence, south of France.

This is one of the regions where Kylie makes her wines.

But the distributor is Benchmark in London. Provence-inspired roses are in fashion at the moment – and Kylie’s own version is poured at swanky venues including Annabel’s, Louie London and Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle Hotel in New York.

Georgie Haughton, Sainsbury’s head of wine buying, said Kylie’s products were doing well.

‘She appeals to all generations,’ she said.
