The Los Angeles Lakers’ first major in-season decision on Bronny James’ career has been handed down, as he will soon be splitting time between the G-League and the NBA.
Bronny made his NBA debut on Tuesday night, coming off the bench to join father LeBron James on the court in a victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The younger James will join the Lakers on their upcoming road trip which starts Monday and goes through November 6 before splitting time in the G-League, per ESPN.
The Lakers G-League affiliate is the South Bay Lakers, who also play their games in the Los Angeles area.
The G-League Draft is tomorrow, with teams holding training camps until November 7. That coincides with Bronny’s upcoming switches between South Bay and the NBA franchise.

LeBron previously reflected on Bronny’s development and knew his son going to the G-League was a possibility.
‘Just (looking forward to) seeing him continue to grow as a basketball player no matter if it’s here with us or if it’s down with the G-League team and him continuing to get better and better and better,’ he said.
‘His job is to put the work in and get better and better, just like the rest of us. And we want to hold him accountable, and he’s going to hold us accountable. And if we all do that, we all get better, because we’re all one team. We’re a reflection of South Bay; South Bay is a reflection of us.’
Many sports fans felt James’ selection in the NBA Draft was a case of nepotism, as well as the appointment of close friend of the James family, JJ Redick as head coach.
In his first professional game, Bronny played for three minutes and missed both shots he took. He did not score a point.
