Lady Gaga rocks all black at Toronto Film Festival

She’s starring in Five Foot Two; an upcoming documentary about her life.

But Lady Gaga ditched her usually zany pop princess attire in favor of a simple all-black ensemble as she arrived at the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada on Friday.

The singer, 31, teetered on sky-high platform stilettos as she worked her magic in front of the cameras, before revealing she is taking a break from music.

The musician teamed her wild footwear with simple black trousers and a military-style jacket.

Gaga showcased her new blonde bangs and accentuated her striking features with dramatic eye make-up.

Speaking at the press conference, the Bad Romance hitmaker said she needs some time off but isn’t planning to completely turn her back on music.

Gaga explained: ‘I’m going to take a rest. It doesn’t mean I won’t be creating. It doesn’t mean I don’t have some things up my sleeve.

‘This is my most important thing I do, is to entertain people and to make them happy. I want to slow down for a moment, for some healing.’

Gaga added of her movie: ‘The most important thing in this process was that this film didn’t come across as big and commercial.’

‘For everyone who is watching it, I don’t want them to see how perfect everything is,’ she went on, sitting with the film’s dashing director Chris Moukarbel.

‘That’s simply not true. That would not be in line with me as an artist. The most important thing is to be authentic.’

Lady Gaga: Five Foot Two is scheduled to premiere at the festival Friday night, with Gaga giving a live performance afterward.

Claiming she’s yet to watch the documentary herself, its leading lady said of it: ‘This is Chris’ vision, I’m just a party to this because it’s my life.’

The film includes footage covering her chronic pain issues, and Gaga’s explained: ‘There’s a very strong piece of me that believes pain is a microphone. It does me no good unless I transform into something that is.

‘I hope people watching this who are struggling with chronic pain, know that they aren’t alone.

‘It’s freeing for because there’s a degree of self deprecation that goes along with pain. I want people who watch it, to know there’s no way that I live without out just because I sing and dance.

‘I want people to know that I struggle with things just like them and that we need to stick together.’

Gaga has had an eventful week in Canada, having had to scrap a concert she’d been booked to play at the Bell Centre in Montreal on Labor Day.

She’d fallen ill after her August 29 outdoor concert at Citi Field in Flushing, Queens, which had been hit by a downpour but which she’d soldiered through regardless.

Fans thronged outside her Montreal hotel this Monday, singing and cheering when their ailing diva emerged onto her balcony. She also ordered them pizza.

Only the Monday tour date was canceled and Gaga was right back in the saddle on Wednesday, giving a concert at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
