The pop star, 38, had been in the French capital amid rumours she could perform at the opening of the Olympics and her fans had lined the streets to see her.
Hoards of Little Monsters – a name they are referred to in honour of their loyalty to the Bad Romance singer – had waited all day in the hope of seeing her pass through in her car.
And the Telephone hitmaker surprised them all when she popped up out of the sunroof to greet them, although she left her hotel around 7pm.
Gaga was dressed in all black for the occasion, with a dark cap and shades complementing a black jacket.

In a video posted to social media, the Grammy Award-winning star seemed in good spirits as she offered up a regal wave to her followers.
One fan yells: ‘Gaga, I love you, I love you so much’ and several others follow suit amid screams from the crowd.
The Pokerface songstress mouthed something brief back to the crowd but could not be heard actually speaking.
The interaction lasted a mere few seconds as Gaga threw a heart sign to her fans and then dropped back into her vehicle.
