Lady Kitty and her posh model pals

They are some of this country’s most well-bred models, but they still enjoy hitting the dance floor — or in this case sitting on it.

Princess Diana’s 26-year-old niece Lady Kitty Spencer has shared this snap of her perched on the edge of a dance floor in Italy with Lady Amelia Windsor, 22, the Duke of Kent’s granddaughter.

Joining the aristocrats are pop heiress Renee Stewart, 25-year-old daughter of Sir Rod Stewart, and singer Pixie Lott, 26.

Interestingly, it’s former Strictly Come Dancing star Pixie who is wearing the regal tiara.

‘Snuggles’ is all Lady Kitty says next to the snap, which is thought to have been taken at the time of Dolce & Gabbana’s catwalk show at Milan Fashion Week.

The Queen’s servants have been chuckling about an encounter between Robert Mugabe and a former colleague.

In 1991, after a Commonwealth banquet in Harare, Palace steward Tony Jarred wanted to clear up. A friend recalls: ‘Unfortunately he didn’t recognise Mugabe, mistook him for a servant and told him to start stacking chairs . . . barking out instructions to a bemused Mugabe for a couple of minutes.

‘Tony wouldn’t have got into trouble — the Queen loved him and was very sad when he died just four years later, aged only 60.’

‘Britain has become squeamish,’ says the TV personality, whose new cookbook is called Les Abats — ‘offal’ in French — and includes recipes for gizzards, giblets, brains, trotters and testicles. ‘Historically we weren’t, and there are parts of Britain where things like tripe and black pudding are still fairly commonplace. But in general, people have — pardon the pun — turned their noses up.’

He adds: ‘Why should we send cuts of meat like offal to be made into lasagne, sausages or even pet food? We should be rejoicing in it.’

Actor Kenneth Cranham has discovered some unexpected benefits to being a septuagenarian.

‘I don’t wear my glasses when I appear on stage so can’t really see the audience — which makes acting a whole lot easier,’ says the 72-year-old, who is currently appearing alongside Anne-Marie Duff in Heisenberg: The Uncertainty Principle in London’s West End.
