Two men have been arrested following a major police operation that involved a high-speed chase and multiple gunshots fired by officers.
Police began chasing the driver of a black Holden Commodore at Lalor Park, in western Sydney, at 9.30am on Thursday.
The chase lasted for two hours with the driver finally apprehended by police 40km away at the Blue Mountains.

A police officer reportedly discharged a firearm as the chase passed through Winston Hills.
Drivers were urged to ‘take caution’ due to ‘increased police activity’.
The man was arrested by police as the vehicle came to a stop on the Great Western Highway at Katoomba at 11.40am in the morning.
No injuries have been reported.
Shocked residents described hearing ‘loud bangs’ as the police chase unfolded across western Sydney.
One described said the noise sounded like ‘fireworks’ were going off as police pursued the driver.
‘It was siren’s galore,’ she said.
