1. WASH YOUR FACE IN SALT WATER

There’s not much a refreshing dip in the ocean can’t fix, and according to Lara, a splash of saltwater on your face can do a world of good.

The Cronulla-born model lives and breathes the water and swears by it for keeping her pores clean and skin feeling refreshed.

‘I can honestly say I have never taken much skin care advice from anyone, except from the women in my family, who swear by such old fashioned tips, such as swimming in the salty sea,’ Lara told the publication.

Using ocean water to keep your skin clear and rejuvenated is the most natural of remedies and is known to close pores and balance oil production on your face.

2. ENJOY A POP OF RED COLOUR

One of the drawbacks to a long, hot summer is feeling uninspired when it comes to makeup.

Lara recommends opting for a good quality red lipstick to dress up any outfit – and it can also be worn with a bare face for those lazy summer nights.

‘A strong lip colour always elevates your face and your look. It easily takes you from a day in meetings to a fancy dinner out with friends,’ she said.

3. TRUST IN SUNSCREEN

With an Australian summer comes the inevitable risk of a nasty bout of sunburn.

To keep her skin healthy, Lara says she always covers her face in a generous amount of sunscreen before she steps outside.

And instead of spending your hard-earned cash on an expensive bottle of SPF 30+, the beauty queen recommends using kids sunblock instead.

‘It’s often much less oily than regular ones,’ Lara explains.

4. INDULGE IN DIY FACIALS

Lara’s youthful complexion is a product of meticulous care and a healthy dose of exfoliation.

The model makes her own DIY facials with an unusual recipe – using crushed up aspirin and lemon juice to scrub away impurities.

‘It is really a great exfoliator and leaves skin so bright,’ she adds.

Another quick and simple face mask can be made through smashed banana which moisturises the skin and leaves it feeling softer.

5. LESS IS ALWAYS MORE

With a jet-setting career and two young boys to look after, Lara says minimalism is her preferred style.

According to the NY-based model, her very own makeup line The Base is rooted in simplicity, which she says ‘enhances natural beauty’ instead of covering it up.

And Lara’s idea of minimal summer beauty involves using water as a cleanser instead of product and ditching the hairdryer.

6. FIND YOUR SUMMER SCENT

Leaving the house without a spritz of your favourite perfume can leave you feeling unfinished.

Lara says switching up your go-to scent to match the warmer weather is a great way to feel refreshed and energised.

The blonde bombshell’s perfume of choice during summer is one with tropical undertones, such as coconut.
