Large truck slams into a bridge on a busy Melbourne freeway

This is the moment a large truck was filmed slamming into a bridge on a busy Melbourne freeway. 

In dramatic footage, the truck is seen approaching the overpass just after the Ring Road junction outbound on the Princes Freeway in the city’s south-west about midday on Friday. 

The driver runs the trailer straight into the underside of Dohertys Road and crashes into the bridge before it flips off the vehicle.

The driver then runs the trailer into the underside of Dohertys Road and crashes into the bridge

VicRoad advised two outbound lanes are now closed, with heavy traffic growing. 

‘Our crews are working hard to clear this one up but as you can expect from the pictures, it may take some time,’ a statement said.

In footage obtained by 9 News, a man recording the truck get closer to the bridge is heard exclaiming: ‘F—k! F—k! F—k!’. 

A spokesperson said that it is unknown when all lanes will open. 

An image of the trailer pushed up against the bridge also appeared on Reddit below a note which read: ‘Don’t forget to lower your trailer’. 

One person commented on the picture writing: ‘Good thing it was empty’.
