The Las Vegas Golden Knights were welcomed to the T-Mobile Arena by a ruckus crowd ahead of their season opener against the Seattle Kraken.

Las Vegas came prepared for the party as they brought the Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe trophies, while showing off their brand-new Stanley Cup championship rings in front of the home crowd.

Last season the Golden Knights became the youngest team to win a Stanley Cup since the NHL’s first expansion in 1967.

Las Vegas has only been in the league since 2017 and winning the Stanley Cup in their sixth season broken the seven-season mark set by the 1974 Philadelphia Flyers.

Fans lined both sides of the golden carpet Las Vegas rolled out for the opening night, before the team hoisted the trophy up high on a Knights-themed platform.

Along with winning the Stanley Cup, the Golden Knights finished last season with a 51-22-9 record overall and went 18-11-3 in Pacific Division play last season. The Golden Knights scored 267 total goals last season (42 power-play goals and 10 shorthanded goals).

Seattle on the other hand went 13-11-2 in Pacific Division play and had a 46-28-8 record overall last season.

Goalies for the Kraken averaged 23.9 saves per game last season while allowing 3.1 goals per game.

The Golden Knights, who finished with a Western Conference-best 111 points last season just one year after failing to make even make the playoffs, will now try to join the Pittsburgh Penguins (2016-17) and the Tampa Bay Lightning (2020-21) as teams in the last decade who were able to win back-to-back Stanley Cups.

‘We feel we’re capable (of repeating),’ Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said following the team’s final preseason game on Saturday afternoon, a 7-4 victory at the Los Angeles Kings.

‘We’re not looking around the room and saying there’s a bunch of new faces who weren’t here.

‘We’ve retained a lot of the same players so we feel that’s going to help us.’
