The Las Vegas Raiders have decided to cut cornerback Jack Jones after failing to trade him to an NFL rival.

It brings his time in Sin City to an end after being claimed of waivers in 2023 following his release by the New England Patriots.

The 27-year-old started 16 games in 2024 and recorded a career-best 69 tackles alongside three interceptions. But he also gave up 698 yards and nine touchdowns for a Raiders team that never looked like it was going to make the postseason.

In 2023, he famously scored two touchdowns in as many weeks. He intercepted Easton Stick of the Chargers for a touchdown in a huge 63-21 win and then, on Christmas Day, cut out a Patrick Mahomes pass and returned it at Arrowhead Stadium as the Raiders beat the Kansas City Chiefs.

But now, he is looking for a new home for the 2025 campaign.

Tom Brady, a minority owner for the Raiders, has overseen an offseason overhaul with the Raiders as he attempts to use his expertise to transform the team into a force once again.

Pete Carroll was appointed head coach after Antonio Pierce’s departure. The Raiders also traded for a new quarterback in Geno Smith, who arrived from the Seattle Seahawks, and signed star defensive end Maxx Crosby to a lucrative new deal.

Next up is the NFL draft in Green Bay later in April, where the Raiders are expected to take running back Ashton Jeanty with the No 6 pick.
