Latrell Mitchell will not be sanctioned by the NRL after his X-rated radio interview following South Sydney’s loss to Brisbane on Thursday night.

Mitchell dropped the f-bomb five times while speaking to Triple M, at one stage admitting: ‘I don’t care if I’m swearing, boys’.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo contacted South Sydney boss Blake Solly to arrange a meeting with Mitchell this week to discuss his behaviour.

However, the full-back will not be issued with a breach notice for the outburst.

Souths also won’t punish Mitchell for the interview, which has been viewed over 160,000 times on Triple M’s Instagram page.

‘We encourage players to be themselves and be authentic,’ Abdo said. ‘However, they also know they are professionals and role models which means setting an example.

‘When speaking to fans via media interviews, we have a responsibility to be respectful.’

Mitchell has been in the spotlight in the past week, with the NRL also deciding not to take action against him for wading into the racism row that saw Spencer Leniu cop an eight-match ban for calling Ezra Mam a ‘monkey’.

Under the code of conduct, NRL players are not supposed to comment on active judiciary cases before they have concluded, but Mitchell took to Instagram calling for a ban of at least eight to 12 weeks.

Yet the NRL is expected to warn Mitchell about his behaviour and remind him of his responsibilities as a professional footy player.
