Latrell Mitchell releases bizarre line of summer clothing items including budgie smugglers and his own version of the Test cricket Baggy Green cap

South Sydney superstar Latrell Mitchell has released an eye-opening range of clothing items in time for Christmas, including his own line of budgie smugglers.

Budgy smugglers, for uninitiated, refers to men’s tight-fitting swimming trunks or swimwear, like Speedos, in the Australian lexicon. 

The humorous phrase suggests the appearance of concealing a budgerigar, a small Australian parrot, in one’s swimwear, referring to the bulge created by the wearer’s genitals. 

The term has been popularly used in Australia and was even officially added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 1998.

Now South Sydney fans can purchase their own pair of Mitchell “budgy smugglers”, spelling mistake and all.

Mitchell launched the clothing brand Winmarra while still playing NRL for the South Sydney Rabbitohs

Mitchell owns his own clothing brand, Winmarra: Connect to Country and has launched the risque swimmers as part of his summer range.

They include the Winmarra slogan, a picture of a budgie, the Aboriginal flag and the silhouette of Mitchell doing his famous kangaroo ears try celebration on the front. 

 ‘How good are these?’ Mitchell posted on Instagram, holding up a pair of the swimmers.

‘Get ya self in some Trellmit budgys [sic].’

The budgie smugglers are not the only new item release by Mitchell and Winmarra.

He has also launched a new green cap that looks suspiciously similar to the famous Baggy Green caps worn by the Australian cricket team.

With the Australian summer of cricket set to commence against Pakistan on December 14, it is a timely launch by the Souths superstar.
