Latrell Mitchell’s agent breaks his silence on superstar’s white powder scandal as Souths fullback is interviewed by NRL over leaked pic

Latrell Mitchell’s agent has faced the cameras amid the white powder scandal that has rocked the NRL. 

A photograph purporting to show Souths fullback Mitchell, 27, leaning over a table with an unknown white substance went viral over the weekend, leading to an NRL Integrity Unit investigation.

Mitchell has battened down the hatches at his home in Sydney in the wake of the scandal, but faced the NRL for questioning on Tuesday.

And amid the media storm, Mitchell’s advisor Matt Rose answered questions outside his property.

‘Latrell is doing OK,’ he told 7NEWS.

‘Yeah, I mean, at this stage under NRL rules he can’t make any comment.’

The photo is understood to have been taken in Dubbo last weekend, where Mitchell was helping lead a women’s football clinic. 

‘Has he had a chance to actually speak to the integrity unit yet to explain himself? That’s all happening at the moment,’ Rose said.

Mitchell is being investigated over an image (pictured) that appears to show him bending over a table with an unknown white substance in front of him 

‘Once that’s finished he’ll be able to speak to you then.’

Mitchell’s NSW Blues teammate Jarome Luai discussed the subject after training on Tuesday. 

‘I think it’s a pretty touchy subject when you start talking about that stuff,’ Luai said.

‘I think reflecting on it I just wanna make sure personally that I’m doing the right thing and I have a positive message for my audience.

‘All the best to him. I’m sure he’s feeling really remorseful on what’s happened.’

Elsewhere, former NRL star Mitchell Pearce has claimed the Souths fullback is not the main culprit in the alleged episode.

‘I hope someone comes down hard on the person who’s filming these things,’ Pearce said on the Half-Time podcast. 

‘It would be good to know what the laws are around this because it’s bulls–t. You’d hope it’s not his mate, but whoever was in there and doing that stuff needs big repercussions.

Matt Rose said the Souths gun will talk once the investigation has been concluded 

‘The game needs to find out who these people are and go hard on them. They should name and shame them because these people get away with murder and there’s no repercussions.

‘Poor Latrell will put his hand up and say he’s done the wrong thing, but the other person who filmed it needs to be named and shamed and have their photo on the back page.

‘It’s a horrible feeling right now to be Latrell and to have this stuff surface.

‘I feel for him, but at the same time, if he’s done this then he’s put himself in an average position, hasn’t he?

‘It’s not good for the game and it’s not good for Latrell. No one knows what that white substance was, so it’s hard to comment on that, but it’s not good for the game and it’s not good for Souths with the year that they’ve had.’
