Laura Byrne and Matty ‘J’ reveal harsh reality of Valentine’s Day

The Bachelor’s Laura Byrne and Matty ‘J’ Johnson reveal the harsh reality of celebrating Valentine’s Day as a married couple with kids

The Bachelor lovebirds Matty ‘J’ Johnson and Laura Byrne have shared a cheeky video to Instagram showing how Valentine’s Day changed for them after having kids.

The video initially shows the lovers preparing for a romantic date night with Laura, 36, trying on different outfits and Matty, 35, spraying on cologne.

The couple are then seen jumping on a bed of roses together while kissing with the saxophone from George Michael’s Careless Whisper playing in the background.

‘V Day before kids’ is written on the screen and the video then moves to the ‘after kids’ stage by showing Matty and Laura lying in bed together looking bored.

Matty takes a retainer out of his mouth and asks his partner, ‘it’s Valentine’s Day, do you want to have a cuddle?’

Laura, who is wearing a facial mask, responds unenthusiastically with, ‘let’s just do it tomorrow.’

‘Ahhhhh Valentine’s Day, keeping the spark alive,’ Matty wrote next to the video.

The pair welcomed daughters Marlie-Mae in 2019 and Lola in February, 2021. They got engaged while on holiday in Fiji in April 2018.

They wore their hearts on their sleeves and displayed their cheeky humour while exchanging wedding vows in November.

The happy couple, who tied the knot on the South Coast, joked about their sex life together while professing their undying love for each other during the ceremony.

Matty delivered some hilarious and heartfelt vows he’d penned himself, calling Laura his ‘perfect’ woman and joked she’d ‘finally managed to lock him down’.

Their nuptials came after Laura confessed she almost lost her chance at true love after she almost pulled out of The Bachelor at the last minute.

Laura and Matty are one of the most successful couples to come out of the show, but the brunette beauty told the I’ve Got News For You podcast it almost didn’t happen because she got ‘cold feet’ the day before filming was set to begin in 2017.

‘I had a change of heart and almost didn’t rock up for filming,’ she admitted.
