Laura Byrne rehearses for new season of Dancing with the Stars

Laura Byrne knocks her dance partner to the ground during spectacular misstep as she rehearses for new season of Dancing with the Stars

Laura Byrne is kicking up her heels on the upcoming season of Channel Seven’s Dancing With the Stars.

But the KIIS FM star hit a snag during rehearsals this week when she took a misstep that sent her dance partner Danil Saveliev tumbling.

The 35-year-old former Bachelor star shared a video to Instagram showing the amusing moment, in which she smacked into Danil instead of putting her arms around him, sending the poor man sprawling into the floor.

‘The Cha Cha’s been a real hit,’ she joked in her caption alongside the video.

It comes after Laura squealed with delight when she announced the news that she was appearing on the reality show to her co-hosts Brittany Hockley and Mitch Churi during their show, The Pick Up earlier this month.

Laura said she was practicing 25 hours per week in order to get her moves right for the ratings hit, which is currently in pre-production and set to go to air later this year.

‘I’ve been training my absolute a**e off, literally my a**e is gone, look how flat it is,’ she told her co-hosts, adding:  ‘I’ve got nothing left on me.’

The mother of two, meanwhile, admitted that her dancing abilities need quite a bit of work.

‘I am so unbelievably bad I look like a baby giraffe that’s just been birthed. Or like a praying mantis or stick insect when they’re about to move forward and they go back and forth before they move.’

Laura said fans can look forward to watching the former reality star do the jive, featuring high kicks, in the new season.

The TV personality said her dance partner was a 21-year-old drill sergeant who has never done DWTS, but is ‘desperate to win’.

Daily Mail Australia revealed earlier this month that the 2023 series will feature a new-line up of judges and contestants who haven’t already been seen on the dance floor.

Sources close to production have let slip that season 20 will not be an All-Stars series as previously reported, but will showcase a new mix of talent.

Sonia Kruger and Daryl Somers will both return as hosts.

Kym Johnson, who previously appeared as a judge between 2013 and 2015, is tipped to return to the series and has been spotted in and out of meetings with Seven.

Aussie actress and ex-wife of Sean Penn, Leila George, is a strong contender to star this season, while actress and singer Natalie Bassingthwaighte is also tipped to join the line-up.
