Zendaya’s ‘image architect’ Law Roach has revealed that he retired as a celebrity stylist because he no longer wanted to be ‘in service’ to A-list stars – while claiming that he spent years putting his clients before his ‘own health and happiness.’
The 44-year-old shocked the fashion world earlier this week when he announced his resignation on Instagram in a dramatic post, writing that he had grown tired of ‘the politics, the lies and false narratives’.
And, in an interview with Vogue published on Wednesday, he elaborated further on his sudden decision, stating that quitting was a form of selfcare because he had ‘had enough.’
But Roach wasted no time in finding new ways to enjoy the limelight and, less than 48 hours after his announcement, he made his modeling debut on the Boss runway in Miami.

Speaking to the Vogue about his stepping down, Roach said: ‘I’m not saying I’m retiring from fashion. I love fashion. I love the businesses, and I love being creative.
‘What I’m retiring from is the celebrity styling part of it: the being in service and at service of other people. That’s what I’m retiring from.’
He continued: ‘I also work and live in a bubble, in which my clients are my priority, more so than my own health and happiness. And, in my mind, I was [retiring] just to relieve some pressure for myself.
‘I said: “You know what, I’ve done everything I wanted to do in this career. I’ve received all the awards, the accolades, I’ve changed people’s lives…” And I just feel like I’ve had enough.’
He denied that the shock post was a PR stunt and said that the outpouring of support that followed had been ‘overwhelming.’
But Roach, who has become one of the most visible creatives in fashion, has wasted no time in setting out on a new venture.
On Wednesday evening, he made his modeling debut for Boss’ Fall/Winter 2023 runway show in Miami.
Speaking ahead of the show, he told the publication: ‘I am excited and nervous. And deeply grateful.

His latest career move comes in the immediate aftermath of his ‘retirement.’
He posted a picture to Instagram which showed a red sign that had ‘RETIRED’ written in large white letters.
‘My Cup is empty….. thank you to everyone who’ve supported me and my career over the years. Every person that trusted me with their image, I’m so grateful for you all,’ he wrote in the caption.
‘If this business was just about the clothes I would do it for the rest of my life but unfortunately it’s not!’ he added.

He was also the genius behind Celine Dion’s style renaissance in 2016 – and, after working with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, he has turned into a star in his own right.
Over the years, he served as a judge on fashion competition shows America’s Next Top Model and Legendary, and he was honored with the inaugural stylist award at the 2022 CFDA Awards last fall.
