Sportsmail gives the lowdown on all the action from League One and League Two as four League One teams maintained their perfect start, Joey Barton’s Bristol Rovers were hit by a late stunner and Sutton picked up their first Football League point.

LEAGUE ONE

Wimbledon played in front of a capacity crowd at Plough Lane for the first time in 30 years and the returning fans were richly entertained by a 3-3 draw with Bolton.

The Dons led through Will Nightingale but Bolton took command to establish a 3-1 lead thanks to Eoin Doyle, Josh Sheehan and Oladapo Afolayan. The drama was far from over as Aaron Pressley converted a penalty and Dapo Mebude levelled.

Wimbledon boss Mark Robinson said: ‘I promised myself I wasn’t going to get emotional and it’s really tough to keep the emotions in check. It’s a great occasion. At 3-1 down, it probably does feel like a point gained if I’m honest.’

Sunderland are desperate to get up as they enter their fourth season at this level and a 2-1 win at MK Dons continued their perfect start.

They scored either side of half-time through Ross Stewart and Elliot Embleton but Tottenham loanee Troy Parrott reduced the arrears. Lynden Gooch saw a late penalty saved but Sunderland held on.

Wycombe have made a great start in their efforts to return to the Championship — 19-year-old Oliver Pendlebury scoring twice in five minutes, his first senior goals, in a 3-1 win at Cheltenham.

Portsmouth also made it two wins from two as John Marquis and Marcus Harness scored to sink Crewe at Fratton Park.

Burton are another team with a 100 per cent start after beating Ipswich 2-1 thanks to a Lucas Akins penalty four minutes from time.

LEAGUE TWO

Swindon’s new owner, Australian businessman Clem Morfuni, took the County Ground plaudits from a bumper 9,450 crowd but Carlisle spoiled the party with a 2-1 win.

Morfuni has taken over from unpopular former owner Lee Power and ultimately aims to establish Swindon as a Championship club.

But new manager Ben Garner knows there is plenty of work to be done as goals from Joe Riley and Tristan Abrahams earned the Cumbrians victory.

‘It’s been a really dark period but now there is some light,’ Garner said. ‘It’s just unfortunate we could not give the fans the result the occasion deserved.’

Forest Green are the early leaders after a 3-1 win at Walsall. Matty Stevens has started the season in fine form and his double at the Bescot made it three goals in two games.

In League Two, Joey Barton’s Bristol Rovers were undone by two very late Stevenage goals

Joey Barton’s Bristol Rovers have endured a nightmare start and were undone by two very late Stevenage goals.

Chris Lines came back to haunt his former club with an 88th-minute goal, declining to celebrate, before Luke Norris sealed it in the sixth minute of stoppage time.

‘It was grim before I came in, it was terrible before I got here and I don’t think it’s improved a whole lot since,’ Barton said. ‘But somebody has got to reset this.’

Newly-promoted Sutton picked up their first point as they ground out a goalless draw at Salford.

Bradford left it late but Lee Angol’s 98th-minute penalty earned a 2-1 win over Oldham in front of 17,264 at Valley Parade in manager Derek Adams’ first home game in charge.
