Most people go out for New Year’s but LeBron James preferred to ring into 2023 by staying at home and playing the latest version of Madden in front of his wife of nine years, Savannah.

Online footage shows the married couple hanging out in the living room on Sunday before Savannah, who’s recording, asked James, who’s too preoccupied with playing video games: ‘This is how you are making me ring in the New Year?’

The four-time NBA champion turned around and replied: ‘By playing Madden? I mean, listen. I’ve been in Atlanta all weekend, had a birthday celebration, won a basketball game…celebrated my birthday with you and my mom, [saw] Ohio State’s crushing loss….so I got to get it done.’

'The King' replied that he had to 'get it done' after Ohio State lost to Georgia in the the College Football Playoff semifinals on Saturday

‘The King’ was referring to the Buckeyes’ 41-42 loss to Georgia in the College Football Playoff semifinals. On Saturday, the 38-year-old was constantly tweeting throughout the game and was hyped to see wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. lead Ohio State in receiving touchdowns (2) – before he suffered a concussion in the second half.

Playing as the postseason-bound Minnesota Vikings against one of the NFL’s bottom feeders in the Indianapolis Colts on Madden, it’s widely believed that James is now a Cleveland Browns fan after distancing himself from the Dallas Cowboys.

‘I had to chill out on the Cowboys,’ he said in October. ‘There were a lot of things that were going on when guys were kneeling and guys were having freedom of speech and wanted to do it in a very peaceful manner. A lot of people in their front office were like if you do that around here, then you’ll never play for this franchise again.’

‘I just didn’t think that was appropriate,’ he added. ‘I still like a lot of players on the team (CeeDee Lamb, Ezekiel Elliott, Micah Parsons, Trevon Diggs). I’m all in on the Browns.’

Last Friday, the Los Angeles Lakers forward celebrated his birthday in style by nearly dropping a 40-point-triple double against the Atlanta Hawks in a 130-121 win.

James ended up registering 47 points, nine assists and 10 rebounds in 40 minutes of gametime.

The Lakers are now 15-21 overall and are the 13th of the Western Conference. The team will take on the Charlotte Hornets in North Carolina on Monday.
