Lee Lin Chin has been ‘inundated with job offers’ since leaving SBS

She’s the iconic SBS newsreader who could be snapped up by either Network Ten or Channel Seven, according to claims from industry insiders.

Now, Lee Lin Chin is ‘completely booked up’ following her departure from the multicultural and multilingual broadcaster in July this year.

‘She’s completely booked up and is trying lighten her workload a bit,’ a spokesman for Chin told The Daily Telegraph’s Confidential on Monday.

The popular media personality, who departed SBS earlier this year after nearly four decades with the network is said to be in hot demand at the moment, according to media sources.

‘She was totally the face of SBS and they liked to keep her to themselves,’ an insider told Confidential.

Bidding war? It seems that former SBS newsreader Lee Lin Chin won’t have any trouble finding a new gig with insiders claiming the networks are scrambling to secure her services

In July Confidential reported the lauded newsreader could find herself on popular Channel Ten current affairs show with industry insiders claiming she would be a natural fit for the format.

‘Her popularity with the younger demographic would be something Ten would be keen to capitalise on,’ the source said.

The claim was given further credence in late July when Lee Lin told Ten Daily that she would be ‘happy’ to move to the network.

‘I’d like to point out that, once a newsreader, always a newsreader,’ she said. ‘I would be very happy to read the news on a casual basis in the future if someone were willing to have me… I’m sure I could give ten a ratings boost.’

However, it seems it is not just Ten that could be eyeing off Lee Lin’s talents with an insider from Channel Seven telling the publication the network has already made inquiries as to her interest.

‘We have reached out to her through her management and have told her we would be open to discussions about a role,’ the insider said.

They added: ‘she would be a great addition to any network. Lee Lin is so well-liked and can cross so many different fields. Wherever she ends up she will be a huge asset.’

Having joined SBS in 1980, Lee Lin announced she was leaving the network in July.

Taking to Twitter to break the news to her legion of fans, Lee Lin was quick to dispel any chatter that she was retiring.

‘I have not announced my retirement. I am simply not reading the news on SBS anymore,’ she wrote.

She added: I am open to returning to SBS or appearing on any other network. Trust me, I’m not done yet.’

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to both Network Ten and Channel Seven for comment.
