Leeds consider sensational move for Sam Allardyce to save their season with just four games remaining, as relegation-threatened side prepare to make decision on Javi Gracia’s future TODAY

  • Leeds United are considering Sam Allardyce as an option to replace Javi Gracia
  • The Yorkshire club will make a decision on Gracia’s role as manager on Tuesday
  • Allardyce, 68, has been out of work since leaving West Brom in May 2021

Leeds United could make the sensational move of bringing in Sam Allardyce for the last four games of the season if they choose to fire Javi Gracia.

Gracia only took charge of Leeds in February, but his time looks to be over following a run of poor performances. A final decision will be made on Tuesday.

And Mail Sport believes Leeds are eyeing up the potential of bringing in former England boss Allardyce to Elland Road as they try to keep their place in the Premier League.

The 68-year-old has been out of work since stepping down from West Bromwich Albion in May 2021.

The Dudley-born boss was also England manager for a brief spell in 2016, as well as famous stints in charge of clubs like Bolton Wanderers, West Ham and Crystal Palace.

Following Leicester’s 2-2 draw with Sean Dyche’s Everton on Sky Sports, presenter David Jones and pundit Jamie Carragher discussed the potential recruitment of Allardyce to Leeds.

Jones asked Carragher: ‘There are reports tonight that Javi Gracia is potentially on his way out of Leeds United and leading the way as a frontrunner is Sam Allardyce. What do you make of that?’

Carragher responded: ’Well, Sean Dyche is a sort of similar manager and he’s came in at Everton to do that job of making them better defensively.

’We know in the past Sam Allardyce has done that job before.

’I don’t think he’s ever come this late, I think he’s normally come in [and] he’s had a January transfer window. He can bring his own players in and have that time to change it. But I think it’s probably a decent appointment, whether the sort-of crowd will get behind that, I’m not so sure.

‘I don’t know how Leeds supporters would react to Allardyce. But in terms of trying to make them more solid, better defensively, there’s probably no one better out there.’
