Legendary English DJ Fatboy Slim takes credit for Raygun’s controversial Olympic breakdancing routine: ‘I’m quite proud of that one’

Fatboy Slim has revealed his surprising connection to controversial Australian Olympian Rachael ‘Raygun’ Gunn.

The legendary English DJ, 61, appeared on The Project on Friday night to discuss his upcoming Fatboy Slim Loves Australia tour.

Presenter Elise Elliott asked Slim about his unique music videos when the musician cheekily took credit for Raygun’s controversial Olympic breakdancing routine.

‘You are very well known for your ironic and irreverent videos. Praise You brought daggy dancing to the fore in Australia,’ Elise told him.

Slim – born Quentin Cook – said he believed the music video for his 1999 hit song Praise You – which featured a crowd of people performing a cringe breakdance – inspired Raygun’s performance.

‘The Praise You video directly influenced Raygun at the Olympics,’ Slim told the hosts.

‘I’m quite proud of that one.’

The DJ will be performing his best known hits across the country in March next year for his uniquely titled Fatboy Slim Loves Australia tour.

It follows reports that Rachael Gunn appears to be headed for a career in television.

After gaining notoriety for her performance as Raygun during the Paris Olympics breakdancing competition, all three commercial networks are reportedly trying to sign a deal with her.

A TV insider has claimed fans could look forward to seeing the academic, 36, on at least one top rating reality show next year.

‘The future of one of the world’s most talked about Australians, Raygun, is currently being negotiated with multiple TV offers,’ the source told Yahoo Lifestyle.

According to the insider, the networks don’t want to ‘share’ Gunn.

Raygun was catapulted to international stardom after she scored zero points at the Game, having lost all three of her round-robin battles by a combined score of 54-0.

Although her performance, which featured kangaroo hopping and slithering like a snake, didn’t serve her well at the international tournament, shows such as Dancing With The Stars are excited about what she could bring to their series.
