Leicester City are looking to push through a short-term deal for winger Mateus Tete after he flew in for a medical on Saturday.

The Foxes have identified the Brazilian winger as a potential answer to their attacking misfortunes, as they look to steer clear of relegation from the Premier League.

The struggling Foxes will add more players to their squad this month after signing Danish left-back Victor Kristiansen for £17million from FC Copenhagen – yet they are not the only club showing interest in Tête.

The Brazilian winger has caught the eye since producing six goals and three assists from his 17 Ligue 1 appearances this term.

The 22-year-old is on loan with Lyon after his contract with Shakhtar Donetsk was suspended due to the Russian invasion.

Lyon have an option to sign Tete but it is unclear whether the French club, who are having a turbulent season, intend to activate it.

Both Everton and Nottingham Forest are targeting a wide player and Tête is also on their list.

Leicester are also keen to sign a central defender, with Stoke’s Harry Souttar thought to be a priority.

Boss Brendan Rodgers said: ‘We need improvement in the squad to bring in players who are technically better.’
