Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Rochelle Humes and Laura Whitmore condemn the killing of George Floyd

Over the weekend, there have been worldwide protests over the killing of George Floyd on May 25th by police in Minneapolis, Minnesota. 

And, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Rochelle Humes and Laura Whitmore joined the stars lending their voices to the Black Lives Matter campaign over the weekend as they condemned the killing.

On Friday, ex-police officer Derek Chauvin was charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter after a video surfaced of him crushing George Floyd’s neck with his knee.  

His death has sparked demonstrations across the USA and the UK, over police brutality towards black people, with stars around the world using their platforms to call for justice and an end to racism. 

Speaking out! Leigh-Anne Pinnock joined the stars lending their voices to the Black Lives Matter campaign over the weekend as they condemned the killing of George Floyd, 46

Newly-engaged Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock shared a sketch of George Floyd, quotes about ending racism and her own impassioned caption. 

She wrote: ‘Enough is ENOUGH… stop murdering our people. Now is the time for the whole world to wake up and take notice! Racism is RIFE not just in the US but the whole damn world.

‘We all deserve to feel safe especially when it comes to being around our police force who are supposed to serve and PROTECT… they are out here hunting black people and killing unarmed harmless people. NO JUSTICE NO PEACE.’ 

Leigh-Anne signed off by asking her to do their part, writing: ‘Please sign the petition, link in bio. #justiceforgeorgefloyd #justiceforahmaud.’

Liam Payne used his platform to tell his followers: ‘It’s not enough to just say that Black Lives Matter: all of us can and must do more in order to make that statement a reality as soon as possible.

‘Let’s make this “new normal” after Coronavirus one in which Black people are not persecuted for living their daily lives in the same way everyone else is privileged to do so.’

After suggesting ways for people to make a difference, he added: ‘Let me be very clear, injustice comes in many forms around the world: nobody because of race, gender, sexuality, religion or belief, should suffer discrimination.
