She shot to fame playing Queen Bee of the Upper East Side, Blair Waldorf.

And Leighton Meester has since revealed that she will never revive her role as the privileged teen, while admitting that Gossip Girl was an ‘unhealthy environment’ during an interview with PorterEdit.

However now all grown up the actress, 32, is still every inch the style queen as she posed in the back of an open-top car.

Talking to Porter Edit, the star said that although she isn’t haunted by her time on Gossip Girl she is glad she can look back and reflect on the experience.

She said: ‘I’m not haunted by that time, but it’s been interesting and helpful for me to look at it and examine it as an adult and go, ‘I don’t know if it was the healthiest environment’.’

Leighton added that she was young when she started the series, and a lot of people were suddenly paying attention to her.

The Roomate star said: ‘If you don’t have the right perspective, you could definitely be confused by people being that nice to you or judging you for behaviour that’s typical of a 20, 21 year old… making mistakes but having to make them very publicly.’

She continued that her journey throughout her twenties was sped up due to the success of Gossip Girl, while she was still trying to figure out who she was.

For Leighton this meant having to quickly work out who she could trust and decipher what was real and what wasn’t.

The mother-of-one gushed that she felt she had got lucky, and was able to stay friends with the people she felt were ‘true’.

When asked about child acting generally, Leighton said that she never wanted to stop. However even if she hadn’t of wanted that, she admits she may have not been able to due to her family’s financial situation.

She exclaimed that acting as a youngster is ’emotionally taxing’ and most people are judging you for roles on things that are out of your role.

However despite her struggles with growing up in the spotlight Leighton admitted that it was still a ‘special time’, which was filled with challenges from all aspects of life.

She said that she wouldn’t change it for the world, but relates it to a high school experience that she wouldn’t want to return to.

The star said: ‘It’s sort of a time capsule. A lot of the questions that come from it are: ‘Do you miss it?’ ‘Did you love what you wore?’ And I understand that, but – and I say this with nothing but love – it is like saying, ‘High school was an amazing time for you, do you wish you could go back?’

After leaving the show Leighton began dating now husband Adam Brody, who she described as her ‘soulmate’.

During the chat, which took place at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Leighton’s husband had a surprising pre-fame role, as a valet at there while he tried his hand at acting.

The couple have since welcomed their daughter Arlo, which Leighton admits has changed the sort of roles she’s chosen for.

She revealed that she doesn’t get the ‘sexy ingenue’ parts as much, but believes women who are more fully fleshed out need to appear more in these roles.
