  • Yoro has since had surgery and he will now be out of action for three months

Manchester United summer signing Leny Yoro has sent fans a message after undergoing surgery on his left foot.

The 18-year-old moved to Old Trafford from Lille in a £52million transfer on July 18 and made his debut for the Red Devils in a 2-0 win over Rangers two days later.

But Yoro’s United career was dealt an early setback the following week when he suffered a foot injury just half an hour into a 2-1 defeat by Arsenal in the USA.

It later emerged that Yoro would need surgery.

That surgery on Yoro’s left foot took place on Monday and United said in a statement that it had been a success, but also that it would take the defender three months before he returned to fitness.

‘Now, time for patience and rehabilitation work. See you soon, stronger’.

Alongside this message, Yoro posted a photo of himself giving a thumbs up gesture from a hotel bed.

He also shared an image featuring a quote from the Bible, which read: ‘Jesus replied, You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.’
