Levi Bellfield’s ex-wife says she is 100% sure he carried out other attacks and may even have committed an offence while they were on holiday in Turkey.
Serial killer Bellfield is currently in jail for the murders of Surrey schoolgirl Milly Dowler, 13, Marsha McDonnell, 19, and 22-year-old French student Amelie Delagrange.
His crimes are being reexamined amid claims he killed Lin and Megan Russell in 1996, murders for which another man has been jailed.
His ex-wife Jo Collings has said she does not believe he killed the Russells, but is certain he attacked other women.
Jo Collings, the ex-wife of Levi Bellfield, has said she is sure he carried out more attacks
She told how Bellfield could be a ‘gentleman’ but would flip and her life with him became ‘torture’ as he subjected her to domestic abuse, rape and beatings
Asked by the BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire if she thought he had other victims, Ms Collings said: ‘Without a shadow of a doubt. Because that’s him. I know him.’
She described a holiday the couple went on to Turkey in 1996, and told of her fears he had committed a crime during their short stay.
She said: ‘We were there four or five days. We’d had a row one afternoon, he locked me in the bedroom, went off out and came back late in right state. He packed all the cases and we flew home the next day.
‘He wouldn’t say why or anything but he probably did something out there because you wouldn’t go into panic mode, have to pack everything, don’t ask any questions and fly home.’
She described life with Bellfield as ‘torture’, but said that his sex attacks and beatings became her ‘normal life’ and she was unable to get away.
His ex-wife says she suspects Bellfield even carried out an attack when they were on holiday
Ms Collings told the BBC show: ‘When he was being nice, you could not have asked for a nicer person. He was a real gentleman. Spoiled you rotten.
‘But then, he would just flip. There was the beatings, the abuse. He treated you worse than you would treat an animal.’
She added: ‘The rapes became quite a common thing, because we were his property, we belonged to him and whatever he wanted, he did. You didn’t say no to him, you didn’t argue.’
Ms Collings has said Bellfield was at her 25th birthday party on the day Lin Russell, 45, and her daughter Megan, 6, in Chillenden, Kent, in 1996.
Repeating his alibi today, she said: ‘There’s absolutely no way I’m confused. From when we woke up in the morning to the moment we went to bed that night, I can tell you everything we did.’
Despite her fears Bellfield had more victims, his ex-wife says he was with her on the day Lin and Megan Russell (pictured with Lin’s husband Michael and other daughter Josie) died
In 2016, as many as 25 cases had been linked to Bellfield.
And at the time of his conviction for Milly’s murder in June 2011, detectives said they believed Bellfield may have been responsible for around 20 attacks on women, dating back to 1980, which were never solved.
On the Russells case, Bellfield’s solicitor Julie Cooper has said: ‘Mr Bellfield denies the murders of the Russell family and denies ever making such a confession.’
