Lewis Hamilton has been dealt with a concerning blow ahead of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix this weekend.

With the Ferrari star currently in Saudi Arabia ahead of the next race on the Formula One calendar, the ill-health of his dog is a worry that could affect his performances on track. 

Despite winning his maiden race for the Prancing Horse during the sprint in China, the Brit has otherwise struggled for consistency. 

While he is having to adjust to a new environment after leaving Mercedes, he will be looking to improve on his previous showings as he chases a record eighth world title. 

Hamilton has an extremely close relationship with his beloved French bulldog Roscoe, who he adopted back in 2013. 

He is often seen taking pictures with his pet pooch, who he also frequently flies to races around the globe and takes for walks in the paddock on race weekends.

The Ferrari star’s much-loved companion is currently struck down with pneumonia. 

News of the animal’s ill-health was shared in a social media update issued by Roscoe’s trainer, Kirstin McMillan. 

Posting to Instagram, she said: ‘Roscoe, because I know you are going to ask, he is going to his vet today. 

‘This is a vet that practises veterinary medicine where she combines Eastern and Western, that’s an intergrative pet practice.

‘So she’s a real vet, she went to Davis and everything, but she went for a few years of additional training in holistic methods, Chinese medicine, accupuncture and things like that. 

‘What she is going to do with him today is a high-dose Vitamin C IV drop and this is supportive care.

‘This is in addition to the strong antibiotics that he is correctly on for his pneumonia.

‘And she’ll do acupuncture on him. So this supports him.’

Responding to the concerning update, fans sent numerous messages of support. 

One user wrote on X, formerly Twitter: ‘Fingers all crossed the antibiotics kick in and do a good job and that he’ll be on the mend soon’. 

A second well-wisher wrote: ‘Get well soon Roscoe’. 

Another added: ‘Hope he recovers soon, waiting for his Silverstone debut with Ferrari.’ 

A fourth posted: ‘Praying for a speedy and full recovery! We love you Roscoe!’. .
