Liam’s apparent confirmation of he and John’s appearance came just before the release of the pair’s collaborative album, Liam Gallagher John Squire, which drops on March 1.
It sees two heavyweights of the Britpop era – with John renowned for his role as guitarist with The Stone Roses – join forces on a new LP.
Reacting to Liam’s reply on X, fans of the singer were quick to hype up the prospect of the pair performing together at Worthy Farm this summer.
In reply to Liam, Mr Russell wrote: ‘C’maaaannnnn!!!!!!’
A response from another shocked user read: ‘Omg reeeeeaaaallyy?!’
A fellow fan hoped the revelation would come to fruition, as they replied: ‘Hope so!’
A fourth added: ‘Get in’.
Liam’s surprise post comes after The Mail on Sunday exclusively revealed in November that Madonna, Dua Lipa and Coldplay are among the frontrunners to headline Glastonbury in 2024.
After months of discussion, the three iconic singers are reportedly set to appear on the Pyramid Stage, though the official line-up is yet to be revealed.

One festival insider said: ‘It’s the dream line-up, a brilliant mix of different music and different atmospheres. Then, of course, you have Madonna on the final night, which will be epic.’
The usual eagle-eyed detective work from fans has also seen Ed Sheeran emerge as a possible headliner at Worthy Farm.
Posting on X, fan account Glastopia reposted a picture of Ed Sheeran’s Mathematics tour dates across Europe and Asia, captioned: ‘I spy a big gap in June’.
However, when it comes to releasing the line-up, Glastonbury’s organisers are notoriously good at keeping an expectant crowd in the dark over who might appear at Worthy Farm.
If previous years are anything to go by, that is unlikely to change.
