Liam Gallagher insists Oasis reunion is ‘happening’ 14 years after iconic band’s split

Liam Gallagher has insisted an Oasis reunion is ‘happening’ 14 years after the iconic band’s split.

The group’s former frontman, 50, is adamant he and estranged sibling and guitarist Noel, 55, are going to put their years of feuding behind them and take to the stage together one more.

Responding to a Twitter follower who asked what the chances of the Britpop group reuniting are, he replied: ‘It’s happening.’

Noel recently admitted he’ll ‘never say never’ to an Oasis reunion: ‘You should never say never, [but] it would have to take an extraordinary set of circumstances.

‘That’s not to say that those circumstances would never come about.’

It come after Noel showed no sign of squashing the feud with his brother, as he’s reportedly formed a surprise friendship with Peter Kay.

The musician has allegedly become close with the comedian, 49, who famously called Liam a ‘k**bhead’ at the 2010 BRIT Awards.

Having attended the funnyman’s recent Manchester gig, it has been claimed Noel hit it off with Liam’s nemesis Peter after they met backstage.

A source told The Sun: ‘Noel went to Peter’s Manchester gig last week and they met backstage and got on like a house on fire.

‘They spent time together after the show and it was a great laugh. Peter is a huge fan of Noel’s and it was a pleasure for him to welcome him.

‘Noel surprised some of the crowd at the arena who had no idea he’d be making an appearance.’

MailOnline has contacted Noel and Peter’s representatives for comment.

Peter’s feud with Liam stems from an on-stage encounter at the BRITs.

Picking up the gong for Best Album of 30 Years for the 1995 record (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?, the Oasis star swore his way through his acceptance speech, before hurling his microphone and award into the audience.

Making his acceptance speech, the frontman thanked the early members of the band, with the exception of older brother Noel, who walked out on the group last summer.

Arriving alone on stage, he yelled into the microphone: ‘Listen kids. I want to thank Bonehead, Guigsy and Alan White. The best band in the f**king world. Live forever.’

A furious Liam later tweeted: ‘Listen up fat f**k as a real northerner I was brought up 2 say s**t 2 people’s faces not behind their back. Live forever LG.’

Peter wrote on his website the next day: ‘So it was the Brits last night and I was honoured to be asked to host the show, especially with it being 30 years old.

‘Congratulations to all the winners, including Noel Gallagher, who sadly didn’t get a mention (and who thankfully isn’t a k***head).’

More recently, Liam proved the quarrel was still ongoing when asked if he would be attending one of Peter’s comeback gigs, saying, ‘F*** him the balloon knot.’
