Liam Neeson is trapped on the Melbourne set of his new movie Blacklight as a producer insists ‘we can’t let him out’ due to COVID-safe ‘production bubble’
Actor Liam Neeson has been on the set of his new action flick Blacklight in Melbourne’s outer suburbs since early November.
According to the film’s producer Paul Currie, the Irish actor, 68, hasn’t been able to do any sightseeing.
Because of strict COVID-safe protocols on set, the action star is seeing more of his hotel room than the sights of Melbourne.

‘He hasn’t had time to go out to restaurants or anything like that, and we can’t let him out anyway,’ Currie tole The Age on Friday.
‘He’s under a very tight protection bubble,’ he added.
The set ensures that each department is organised into its own strict bubble and that staff must carry microchipped swing tags that log where they’ve been – and these are checked daily, The Age reports.
Most of the crew of 270 people have not even met, and there is unlikely to be a wrap party, Currie told the paper.

Liam was seen on the set of the film last month, wearing a protective face mask to limit the spread of COVID-19 as he stepped out of his trailer to meet an awaiting film crew.
The star spent two weeks in hotel quarantine in Sydney after arriving from overseas.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported that he completed his two-week mandatory self-isolation over the weekend before flying to Melbourne.

The $43million movie will see Liam take on the role of a ‘troubled off-the-books fixer for the FBI tasked with pulling undercover agents out of dangerous situations’, according to production.
Blacklight is written, directed and produced by Mark Williams, who is the co-creator of the Emmy-award winning Netflix series, Ozark.
Mark, who also directed Liam in his recent movie Honest Thief, revealed he chose to film Blacklight in Australia over America and the UK due to the country’s successful handling of the coronavirus crisis.
