Liam Newman: Young instructor dies in horrific skydiving accident – as his best friend shares heartbreaking message

A young skydiving instructor has been remembered as an ‘amazing man’ after plunging to his death in a freak accident.

Liam Newman, 25, who lives in Brisbane but is originally from Taupo on New Zealand’s North island, died in a skydiving incident on a rural property in Tarawera, north of Goondiwindi in Queensland, on Tuesday.

‘Our brother and our best friend Liam Newman tragically passed away in a skydiving accident,’ wrote his best friend Cody Mason on a  to a GoFundMe page set up to support his bereaved family. 

‘Liam was a man who dared to push the limits and had his heart set on achieving the world.’

Mr Newman worked at the iFLY Brisbane Indoor Skydiving centre.

The company said it was ‘incredibly saddened to hear that one of our staff members, Liam Newman, has had a fatal accident at a skydiving event in Western Queensland’.

‘He was a much-loved staff member of our team, and our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.’

Mr Newman’s parachute reportedly opened and was functioning normally when he was attempting a group jump at an organised event for experienced skydivers on Tuesday.

But he landed at a bad angle and sustained multiple serious injuries, according to The Courier Mail.
