Liam Payne has given a rare insight into parenting son Bear, four, with ex-partner Cheryl, revealing that the youngster loves singing and dancing just like his popstar parents.
Speaking on Heart radio on Friday, the One Direction star, 28, detailed how the tot, whom the former couple welcomed in 2017, has the musical buzz which he admitted ‘scares me a little bit’, but insisted that he’d never stop Bear from doing what he ‘loves’.
Liam went on to say that he and Cheryl, 38, joked that they ‘really don’t want him to be famous’, with Liam’s dad Geoff sarcastically quipping that they’re a ‘great job’, considering Bear has already demonstrated musical prowess.

The couple, who split in June 2018 after two and a half years together, have largely kept their son’s life hidden from the public eye.
But giving a rare glimpse of what little Bear is like, Liam told hosts Mark Wright and Pandora Christie how clever his son is, noting that Cheryl caught the youngster recording his very own song on his iPad.
He said: ‘Cheryl walked in the other day, and he was in his bedroom, it was about 9 o’clock, and he was supposed to be asleep.
‘He’d set his iPad out on the floor, and you could see the little red line going – and she was like “what are you doing?” and he was like “I’m recording a song, can you not see?” And he was going [sings] “like a sunshine”. So funny.’
Ambitious: Speaking on Heart radio on Friday, The One Direction star, 28, detailed how the tot has the musical buzz which he admitted ‘scares me a little bit’
When asked if that means his boy had the musical buzz, Liam replied: ‘He really has. I mean, it scares me a little bit because I know what that can do to you and, in certain places with things.
‘Like, you almost know too much from my side if you know what I mean, but I’d never stop him doing what he wanted to do and he absolutely loves.
‘I mean, he went to rehearsal with her the other week for her show that she put on and he stole the microphone off, he went topless, he had the dancers dancing around. He’s obsessed with The Weeknd and Ariana Grande.’
And as Mark commented that with having Liam and Girls Aloud star Cheryl as parents that Bear is destined to follow in their footsteps, Liam admitted his and Cheryl’s reluctance for their boy to be in the limelight.

He said: ‘Yeah, my dad was quite funny about it actually, cos we were like “we really don’t want him to be famous” and my dad was like “well you’re doing a great job then!”‘
Of his son’s love for singing and dancing, he went on: ‘Honestly, I don’t think we can stop him with that.
‘I mean, it’s funny cos I sit with him on my production stuff that I do and, I’ll play something, and he’ll go, “no no, no no, watch me”. And then he’ll just bang out some little tune and he’ll be like, “that was by The Weeknd”.’
In a separate interview with Capital Breakfast’s Roman Kemp as part of Global’s Make Some Noise Day, Liam said that Bear is ‘super smart’ and ‘observant’, with the youngster recognising that the Strictly studio is the same one Cheryl rehearses in.

He explained: ‘He’s super smart. Like, we were watching Strictly Come Dancing, it’s the same venue that Cheryl uses to rehearse and he’s like “look Mummy, it’s your work!” Like he’s super observant, so I’m having to watch everything!’
It comes after Liam spoke about Cheryl’s desires for their child in June, including her hopes he will be a ‘yoga person’.
The Strip That Down star said On the Diary Of A CEO podcast, he is also unsure whether he would want Bear to take part in reality shows like his father.

Liam applied for The X-Factor in 2008, where he first met Cheryl, but was rejected at judges house and rocketed to fame with 1D when he returned to the show in 2010.
‘This is a tricky one. I think his mum hopes he’s going to be this yoga person. His mum is very chilled these days,’ Liam said.
‘I would never stop him but I would let him know the risks. My parents did not experience what I had. I want him to do something he enjoys doing every day.’
