Lil Durk hospitalized for a week with severe exhaustion and dehydration

Rapper Lil Durk is on the mend after spending a week in the hospital and being treated for severe exhaustion and dehydration.

The 30-year-old Chicago native (born Durk Derrick Banks) checked into an Ohio hospital on July 6 after falling ill, according to TMZ.

While his hospitalization was initially just a safety precaution, his condition was more serious than first thought.

That forced him to miss out on the ESPY Awards in Los Angeles, while he also canceled a number of shows across Europe.

The rapper has still not been cleared by doctors to return to work in any capacity, though he did release a statement to his fans.

‘My fans mean everything to me, you’re the reason why I do this,’ the rapper began in his heartfelt statement.

‘I was looking forward to touching all of my European fans, performing this week(end), attending the ESPYs and more,’ he continued.

‘But after performing and traveling daily I’ve become severely dehydrated and advised by my doctors not to travel due to exhaustion,’ he clarified.

‘Once I get my full energy back, it’s back to business which I’m looking forward to,’ Durk concluded, with the hashtag #StillHealing.

Ironically, the name of his new album is Almost Healed, which debuted in late May, which debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 album charts, and he’s getting ready to release a deluxe edition of the album.

The news comes just under a year after he suffered an onstage accident at Lollapalooza in Chicago involving a pyrotechnic explosive.

‘Due to the incident that happened at Lollapalooza in Chicago on stage, I’ma take a break & focus on my health,’ said the 29-year-old musical artist, whose real name is Durk Derrick Banks.

‘I finished my performance yesterday for my fans. Appreciate y’all.’

In an accompanying photo, the Chicago native was seen with a bandage over his right eye while seated in a medical facility.

In the incident, Lil Durk was performing his track Back In Blood when he accidentally made contact with a pair of pyrotechnic smoke flares, Variety reported.

In a clip on Plugged Soundz Instagram, the Broadway Girls hitmaker was seen rubbing his shirt on his eyes in the wake of making contact.

Crew members were seen rushing to help the musical artist, which a voice on the microphone said, ‘Woah, woah, you alright, bro? [The smoke] shot straight up.’
