Lil Nas X floats while NAKED on the psychedelic cover of his debut album Montero: ‘Tracklist tomorrow!’

Two-time Grammy winner Lil Nas X floated while naked on the newly-unveiled cover of his long-awaited debut studio album Montero, which drops September 17.

The 22-year-old rapper-singer teased the artwork in his Montero album preview where the same image of him appeared on his pink prison uniform and a mist hovering over a magical phone booth.

Lil Nas X (born Montero Lamar) revealed he was inspired by John Stephens’ Genesis II painting from 2010.

The Atlanta-born hip-hop star also tweeted that he was inspired by a popular meme of SpongeBob SquarePants ascending.

Lil Nas X’s album art was created by photographer-director Charlotte Rutherford, creative director Hodo Musa, and 3D artist Alex aka Metapoint.

The Industry Baby rapper received glowing comments on his Instagram post from pop star Camila Cabello, designer Donatella Versace, and Emmy-winning showrunner Lena Waithe.

Lil Nas X – who boasts 54.2M social media followers – later announced via Twitter: ‘Tracklist tomorrow!’

It took two years for the self-described ‘power bottom’ – who came out as gay in 2019 – to complete Montero.

‘The project gave me the opportunity to bravely show different parts of myself. Parts that I may not have shown so openly previously,’ Lil Nas X explained in his VMan cover story.

‘[From] being super aggressive at times on some songs [to] being cocky about where I feel that I’m going in life, and even being vulnerable with talking about relationships with my mom and family members.’

The Old Town Road hitmaker continued: ‘I want everyone to be left with feeling like they’ve learned more about me and through learning more about me, somehow they’ve learned more about themselves. I want the takeaway to be that it’s okay to be yourself, and I mean every aspect of your true self.’

Lil Nas X will next perform at the fan-voted 2021 MTV Video Music Awards, which air September 12 on MTV.

The former Six Flags staffer will also compete for five trophies – including video of the year for Montero (Call Me by Your Name) – during the ceremony held at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
