Lily Allen confirms release of fourth album No Shame

Fans have been eagerly awaiting new music since her chart-topping LP Sheezus back in 2014.

And Lily Allen finally confirmed she is releasing a new album, titled No Shame, on Wednesday afternoon.

Taking to Twitter, the singer, 32, announced her fourth studio record will be available for purchase in ‘early summer 2018’, and is to be promoted by three intimate tour dates around the UK.

The British star, best known for hits such as Smile and LDN, will promote her new music with a string of gigs in March – in London, Manchester and Glasgow.

Along with the album announcement, Lily also dropped the music video for her new single Trigger Bang, featuring rapper Giggs.

The video sees actors portraying the pair as party animals in their youth, before the two musicians meet up for a greasy meal later on.

The track leaked in December, prompting Lily to release the song across different streaming platforms that month.

She penned on Instagram: ‘So @officialgiggs @fryars and me, made a song called #TriggerBang and it has leaked. Gonna make it available ASAP on all platforms. #yourewelcome’

Lily was quick to praise her pal Giggs in an interview with VICE soon after – and credited him for helping her to ‘re-find her artistic voice’ over the last three years.

She explained that the duo had first met at V Festival in 2014, where Giggs had called Lily out for not playing her old material during her set, and sticking to songs from her new album.

Taken aback by the criticism, Lily explained: ‘He laid into me slightly… It is this no nonsense, straight to the point approach and attitude that makes Giggs so special and unique.

‘A rapper, a stranger, an actual artist that I liked, bowls into my dressing room to tell me exactly what he thought and I could tell straightaway that it was coming from a place of kindness.’

Making waves: The new album marks Lily's first record in four years, following the release of LP Sheezus in 2014 (pictured in June 2016)

Becoming inspired by the rapper, Lily added: ‘Everything he does or says has to have purpose or meaning.’

The project still soared to the top of the UK charts, despite receiving mixed reviews from both fans and critics.

During her break from music, Lily has become known for voicing her political and views on Twitter – and has caused outrage with her comments on numerous occasions.

However, she most recently hit out at Wireless Festival for only featuring three female acts on their weekend line-up.

The singer shared a photo of the event’s poster to her Twitter page – but with all the male artists edited out, leaving just three names and huge amounts of blank space.

She accompanied the image with the simple caption: ‘The struggle is real’, before stating to a questioning fan: ‘[The problem is] that wireless have booked 3 women over 3 days of festival.’
