A newly married woman was shot dead beside her husband in a hail of bullets on Tuesday morning.

Lindita Musai, 25, and her 29-year-old husband Veton Musai were shot during a violent attack at their home on Salisbury Street in Yarraville, Melbourne.

Mrs Musai died at the scene while her husband was rushed to The Alfred Hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

A 55-year-old man was also taken to hospital in a critical condition, after allegedly pulling the trigger twice on himself.

The 55-year-old is believed to be a relative of the couple.

Relatives of Mr and Mrs Musai who were wed earlier this year were distraught and were seen comforting each other outside their home after emergency services arrived.

The couple were found on the front porch of their house with gunshot wounds to their upper bodies. 

‘This guy just jumped out of the bush into my peripheral vision, and then he put a gun to his chin and pulled it,’ a witness, Lewis Thorne told Nine News.

‘He got up somehow after that and then about two or three minutes later, he did the same thing again to himself.’

The 55-year-old remains in hospital under police guard.

Multiple streets surrounding the vicinity were blocked off for most of the day. 

Police say they are not looking for any other offenders.
