Lindsay Lohan paid impressive amount for cameo in Mean Girls reboot – 20 years after starring in cult classic

Lindsay Lohan reportedly made a pretty penny for her brief cameo in the new Mean Girls reboot.

The actress, 37, who famously played newcomer Cady Heron in the 2004 cult classic, was paid around $500,000 for half a day of work, according to Variety.

Lohan made a brief appearance in the new musical adaptation, appearing in a math competition scene that drew parallels to her character’s storyline in the original film.

Though she does not reprise her role, Lohan pays homage to character’s time with the ‘Mathletes’ at North Shore High School.

In the original, Cady and her teammates go head-to-head with a rival high school during an academic decathlon on the night of the Spring Fling.

Bot now, instead of competing, Lohan is the one presiding over the competition from a podium on stage.

As students — including Cady (played by Angourie Rice) — spout off answers rapid fire, Lohan jokes about how ‘familiar’ the moment feels.

Her surprise cameo received a rapturous applause during the premiere in New York last week, according to Variety.

The possibility of cameos made by the original cast was previously shut down by Tina Fey, the brains behind the Mean Girls universe.

Speaking with the New York Times, she said Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert were just too ‘busy’ to sign on.

Just days before her cameo was confirmed, Lohan attended the star-studded premiere of the Mean Girls musical film in New York City.

She was spotted crossing paths with Fey, who wrote and starred with Lohan in the 2004 film, on the red carpet.

The stars held excited expressions on their faces and jumped in to share a quick embrace as they reunited – nearly twenty years after the original Mean Girls film was released.

Lindsay and Tina paused for a few memorable photos together at the star-studded screening before heading into the main venue.

The red-haired beauty opened up about Mean Girls with Entertainment Tonight on the pink carpet, and gushed, ‘It’s stood the test of time.’

‘I feel really grateful. I mean, it’s not very often that you have all these movies that do that,’ she continued.

‘Mean Girls really opened the doors for a lot of things going on in schools. I think it’s also a really fun movie, so it’s really a blessing.’

Like the original, Fey wrote the screenplay for the 2024 adaptation, and will also reprise her role of Ms. Norbury.

Both Fey and SNL’s Lorne Michaels produced the upcoming movie.

The 2024 musical comedy will see Renee Rapp — who starred in the 2018 Broadway musical — reprise her role as the infamous queen bee Regina George.

Renee, Avantika Vandanapu and Bebe Wood make up the ‘Plastics’ — a trio of teen girls who rule over North Shore High School and decide to take new girl Cady Heron (played by Angourie Rice) under their very exclusive wing.

The film also stars: Jon Hamm, Jenna Fischer, Busy Philipps and Auliʻi Cravalho.
