Lionel Messi was back at his dazzling best for Paris Saint-Germain during their Ligue 1 victory over Saint-Etienne yesterday, with the superstar picking up two assists.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has endured a mixed start to life in France following his shock Barcelona exit, with his goal tally notably drying up this season.

However, he has still been able to make an impact under Mauricio Pochettino – with his series of impressive tee-ups for his team-mates catching the eye instead.

Indeed, two of them recently came about at the Parc des Princes. Messi’s stunning vision, technique and footwork were all on display for both of the goals.

PSG found themselves trailing by a goal before the 34-year-old burst to the fore, and the forward picked out Kylian Mbappe’s run in behind with a defence-splitting pass.

From there, Mbappe fired into the net, sparking a comeback from the giants.

Messi then followed up his first assist with another, showcasing the dribbling skills which made him one of the best players the sport has ever seen in the process.

On the edge of the penalty area, his immaculate close control allowed him to weave his way into the box, where he then laid off for Mbappe to clinically finish.
