Lionel Messi’s brilliance never ceases to amaze and the Barcelona forward was at his mesmerising best during training.

The club Twitter account posted a video montage of his flicks, tricks and goals as he ran rings around his team-mates.

At one point the 30-year-old received the ball with his back to goal before flicking it up in one motion and scoring with a bicycle kick.

He bamboozled Ernesto Valverde’s men with his flair and trickery and the video was retweeted thousands of times.

All the usual Messi trademarks were on show, scampering around the goalkeeper before squaring for a tap-in, cutting inside and smashing his finish into the far corner and he even had time to share a joke with Andres Iniesta.

Perhaps Chelsea would be well advised to steer clear of the video footage ahead of their Champions League last 16 tie next Tuesday night.

Even Alvaro Morata is fearful of Messi’s brilliance. The Chelsea striker told Movistar+: ‘Messi can’t be stopped.

‘If we can get a good result here, we have to play a defensive game with spaces and try to bother them as much as possible.’

If the five-time Ballon d’Or winner manages to replicate his performance on the training pitch that will be easier said than done for the Blues.
