There are millions around the world who would love to be Lionel Messi even for a moment – and it seems his teammate Jordi Alba experienced that in humorous fashion.

Following what looks to be Inter Miami’s Leagues Cup triumph vs. Nashville, Messi’s wife Antonela Roccuzzo went to congratulate her man with a hug and a kiss, only to realize it wasn’t him.

It was in fact Alba, which was realized as the pair’s head moved toward one another. Then, before any hug or extra affection could occur she realized it was Messi’s ex-Barcelona teammate.

Alba joined the Herons last month and in doing so, reunited with Messi and fellow Catalan legend, Sergio Busquets.

The left-back has made six appearances for Inter Miami and has a goal, along with two assists to his name.

He will be part of the away side hoping to start a climb from the base of the Eastern Conference standings in New Jersey Saturday night.

It is unclear if Messi will be in the starting XI for what could be his MLS debut vs. New York Red Bulls.

Messi played 120 minutes on Wednesday night in Inter Miami’s US Open Cup semifinal win on penalties over Cincinnati and afterwards, coach Tata Martino suggested he needs to manage the minutes the superstar plays.

Inter Miami are last (15th) in the Eastern Conference and face off vs. The Red Bulls (11th) at 7.30pm ET.
