A shocking video of pus leaking from a woman’s lips reveals the potential dangers of cosmetic fillers.
Dr Tijion Esho, a doctor on Channel 4’s Body Fixers, shared the clip of a patient squeezing the thick yellow liquid from her top lip after it became infected following a cut-price procedure.
The celebrity doctor posted on Instagram: ‘When lip fillers go wrong. I get sent A LOT of emergency cases. This young lady contacted today with this video. She’s now on my emergency table!’
Speaking to FEMAIL, Dr Esho revealed he is inundated with patients who need help after having fillers administered by unqualified or unregistered practitioners in a bid to save money. He warned such procedures can lead to infections, tissue dying and even disfigurement.

Describing the dangers of ‘cheap filler’, Dr Esho told Femail: ‘Risks include bleeding, bruising, infection, and allergy.
‘In some rare but most concerning cases, this can lead to tissue necrosis where the blood vessel is blocked by preventing blood to that area of tissue which can then die, leading to disfigurement.’
Dr Esho explained infection is a risk of any procedure but that this is increased when the product or filler used is unregulated or incorrectly administered.
He said: ‘Elements that put you at high risk are the use of unregulated products, an unsanitary clinic, poor aftercare and sharing syringes.’
The cosmetic doctor urged anyone interested in having the procedure to ensure the practitioner is registered, correctly insured, and operating from a clean environment.

Lip enhancements have become increasingly popular with the likes of Kylie Jenner, who recently had her own fillers reduced, sparking a huge increase in demand for the treatment (seen left before the treatment in 2010 and right after the treatment in 2018)
‘This is so important as medical professionals undergo several years of medical training,’ he continued.
‘The training is not just to perform the treatments but also to recognise medical problems and independently treat medical adverse events like tissue necrosis or allergy. This is paramount for your safety’.

In June Dr Esho told FEMAIL how Meghan Markle has influenced a new ’50:50 lip ratio’ with women aiming for a more natural look.
He said: ‘Since Meghan came to the UK she has become the new fashion and beauty influencer, overtaking the likes of Kylie Jenner.
‘Rather than bringing in photos of various Kardashian members, patients are now pulling out pictures of Meghan Markle and her most sought after feature- her lips.
In June Dr Esho told Femail how Meghan Markle has influenced a new ’50:50 lip ratio’ with women aiming for a more natural look
‘The perfect lip ratio used to be where the bottom lip is slightly larger from the top. But with new influencers like Meghan, the shift has moved across to a 50/ 50 ratio with a defined Cupid’s bow’.
‘Meghan’s lips capture many of the features now sought after by today’s patients and by looking at her photos from the wedding you can see why,’ Dr. Esho added.
‘Traditionally the perfect lip ratio was the ‘golden ratio’ where the bottom lip is slightly larger from the top.
‘Over time and with new influencers like Megan the shift has moved across to a 50/ 50 ratio.
‘With this there is also a very defined Cupid’s now and a slight resting pout to the bottom lip.
‘To replicate this ratio you first needs an understanding on the patient’s face, a good injection technique and the correct filler to give natural but also full results.’
