Lisa Curry has opened up about her struggles with going through the menopause.
On Sunday, the former Olympian, 59, candidly described the experience as ‘uncomfortable, irritating, emotional and isolating’ in her column for Body + Soul.
She also noted how grateful she was for her doting husband Mark Tabone, adding that even he is feeling the effects of the changes her body is going through.
Speaking out: Lisa Curry has opened up about her struggles with going through the menopause. On Sunday, the former Olympian, 59, candidly described the experience as ‘uncomfortable, irritating, emotional and isolating’ in her column for Body + Soul
‘I am going through menopause at the moment – suffice to say I’m loving flowy dresses right now, and my elastic-waisted Covid pants are being put to good use,’ she wrote.
‘As strange as what I’m about to say may sound – stay with me, it will start to make sense – it’s not just us women dealing with these changes. Our men feel it, too. In fact, my hubby calls it Man On Pause”.’
She then described her own experience with the change, adding: ‘I can tell you as someone who is living through it now, menopause is uncomfortable, irritating, emotional… and isolating.
‘I’ve lived with serious hormonal imbalances since my early 20s and now, as my body goes through one of its most significant changes, I realise how important it is to have an understanding partner.’

Lisa is often open about her life, and has regularly spoke about the loss of her daughter, Jaimi, who died one year ago at the age of 33.
Posting to Instagram in April, Lisa admitted she still struggles to talk about her loss, and experiences ‘pain and fear’ on a daily basis.
‘Our Jaimi. My brain has thoughts and conversations that my mouth can’t say,’ Lisa wrote next to a throwback photo of herself cuddling up to Jaimi.
‘It’s hard to talk about the pain and fear that is felt daily. Life goes on. People say you get stronger… You don’t. You just learn to hide it better,’ she continued.

Lisa revealed she ‘constantly stops’ to remember that her daughter is gone, and feels sorry Jaimi never got to meet her nephew Taj, who was born two months after her death.
‘So many beautiful moments that she would have loved. But we still include her in everything we do,’ Lisa added, explaining that she ‘talks about Jaimi often’ with her three-year-old grandson, Flynn Gruell.
Lisa went on to encourage people who are struggling to seek the help they need.

‘I hope you can understand, know and feel how loved you truly are, and that living life, and not just existing, is worth it,’ she wrote.
‘Keep fighting and don’t give up. Where there is life there is hope. Life is so precious and there’s so much to look forward to.’
She concluded her essay with a final tribute to her daughter.

‘Jaimi was so loved and is so missed. We hide our tears when we say her name, but the pain in our hearts is still the same. Remembering our Jaimi.’
Lisa announced Jaimi’s death in a social media post on September 15 last year, one day after her passing.
‘Our beautiful daughter Jaimi has lost her battle with a long-term illness and passed away peacefully in hospital yesterday morning with her loving family by her side,’ she wrote at the time.
