Lisa Curry has revealed that she was a late bloomer and didn’t start her period until she was 18 years old.
The former competitive swimmer tells Nine Honey that she doesn’t know why there was a such a long delay.
‘I was a late starter. I remember my teammates telling me I must have been pregnant. I was like, “I can’t be pregnant. I haven’t had sex!”‘ the 60-year-old said.
The average age a girl will get her first period is around 12 years old, but the timeline can vary.
The three-time Olympian says the lack of menstruation was ‘lucky’ as she was training in the pool almost a dozen times a week.
