Lisa Curry’s son Jett Kenny breaks down as he talks about his sister Jaimi dying aged 33 from anorexia

An emotional Jett Kenny broke down on the Amazing Race as he recalled his sister Jaimi dying from anorexia at age 33.

Jett, 30, and his partner Lily Brown, 26, were eliminated from the reality show on Monday night.

Going in to the show, Jett revealed Jaimi was ‘with’ him for the entirety of filming, with the pair taking a portion of Jaimi’s ashes with them to scatter in exotic locations around the world.

Jett and Lilly both struggled to contain their emotions when host Beau Ryan informed the pair they had been eliminated.

‘My sister battled an eating disorder for almost 18 years and the doctors told her she wasn’t going to make it to her 30th birthday, and she battled on to her 33rd,’ Jett revealed as his partner hugged him close for support.

The emotion of the situation proved too much for Jett who broke down in tears as he continued.

‘It means a lot to us to try and do our best for that,’ Jett said wiping tears from his eyes.

‘I think with us talking about it, raising awareness, that gives people going through the same thing, they can…’ Jett continued before becoming too choked up for words.

Coming to his aid, Lilly interjected ‘give them a chance,’ before Jett wiped his eyes again and apologised to Beau.

‘It’s all good, mate,’ Beau replied. ‘It is so okay, mate.’

Jett’s world was shattered in September 2020, when Jaimi died at the age of 33 after battling alcoholism and an eating disorder.

While his Olympian mother Lisa discusses her mental health regularly on social media, Jett usually keeps his struggles private.

‘How I would deal with the grief is different compared to how mum deals with it. Obviously as a parent, that’s not something you’d never want to go through,’ the SAS Australia star previously told The Daily Telegraph.

Jett, whose father is Ironman Grant Kenny, said he copes with grief by rationalising his tragic loss as ‘something part of life’, and reminding himself that ‘these things do happen.’

‘Obviously we have times where some days are harder than others, especially around birthdays, Easter and Christmas,’ he added.

The Kenny-Curry family announced Jaimi’s death on social media on September 15 2020, one day after her passing.

In 2021, Jett revealed his sister’s heartbreaking final moments to the Courier Mail.

He revealed that he had just finished a lifeguard shift when Lisa phoned telling him to call back when he was home.

‘I could tell something was wrong,’ he told the publication.

‘And in my head, I was like I hope – I didn’t hope this for any reason – if it’s going to be a family issue, I hope it’s Jaimi and it’s not (my other sister) Morgan or (her son) Flynn or anyone else, because I was like, our family doesn’t need to deal with more in a way.’

He added: ‘We ended up all at the hospital and that was the last time I saw her.  She fought all the way until the end.

“They took her off life support and eight hours I think she was off life support for until she finally passed away; the doctors thought it was going to be about a minute or two, so she was a fighter, that’s for sure.’
