The mother of a slain teenage girl has died just months after discovering her daughter’s lifeless body.

The heartbroken family of Lisa Rush this week posted on social media how they ‘are absolutely devastated’ and ‘forever broken’ over her death.

Ms Rush’s 16-year-old daughter Amber-Rose Rush was killed inside the family’s home in Dunedin, New Zealand on the night of February 2, stuff.co.nz reported, and a doctor was later charged with her murder.

Ms Rush found her daughter’s body the morning after Amber-Rose died and she told Fairfax a month later how she had ‘just screamed’. 

‘Could anyone imagine finding their child like that?,’ Ms Rush had said. 

Dunedin doctor Venod Skantha, 30, is accused of murdering Amber-Rose.   

Skantha has denied the murder charge and his trial will start in March next year. 

In a Facebook post a month after Amber-Rose’s was killed, Ms Rush revealed her pain over her daughter’s death and told how she was missing her.

‘I miss you bursting into the room laughing, dancing, yelling full of life,’ Ms Rush wrote.

‘I miss coming into your room nagging you to eat something I miss having you by my side every time I left the house, I miss having the kids come over so excited to see Auntie Amber, I miss our family, I miss kissing your beautiful face every night.   

‘I love you so much honey, my soul is with you, forever.’ 

In a later post, she described Amber-Rose as ‘the sweetest, kindest, most-loving girl’ who had ‘the most beautiful heart and soul’.  

Family of Ms Rush told of their devastation over her death in a social media post. 

‘I don’t even have words for the amount of heartbreak I am feeling right now. I honestly thought we couldn’t go through anymore pain than we already were but I was wrong,’ the post said. 

‘We are absolutely devastated and don’t know how to get past this. Our family will be forever broken.’
