Lisa Wilkinson Project debut with an ‘unmissable’ story

Fans have been eagerly awaiting her return to television after her shock resignation from the Today show. 

And it looks as though their patience will be worth it as Lisa Wilkinson has promised fans her debut on The Project on Sunday night will include an ‘unmissable’ interview.

The 58-year-old revealed that she will be tell ‘a story of surrogacy, deep friendship, incredible love [and] unimaginable loss’. 

Time to shine! After months of awaiting her Project debut, on Sunday, Lisa Wilkinson promised fans the episode would leave them with ‘broken hearts in the best possible way’

The TV veteran will interview New Zealand football player Jeremy Brockie’s wife Jessica, who became a surrogate for the couple’s friends.

‘Tonight on @theprojecttv I’m so proud to help tell the incredible story of Bec & Gareth, and Jess & Jeremy, and how tiny little five day old Rixon arrived in this world,’ Lisa revealed on Instagram.

‘It’s a story of surrogacy, deep friendship, incredible love, unimaginable loss, community support…and a beautiful little baby boy who is going to break your heart in the best possible way,’ she wrote.  

Jessica was carrying a baby for Bec, who couldn’t due to suffering from Cystic Fibrosis. 

However, in a heart-wrenching twist of fate, Bec passed away in September, before having the chance to meet her bundle of joy.

Taking a selfie with the family, Lisa was all smiles as she posed alongside Gareth, Jess and a sleeping baby Rixon.

And although The Project called it Lisa’s ‘debut with an unmissable story’, that’s not the only big promise to be aired on Sunday night.

Taking to their Instagram, the show revealed they had also lined up an interview with Hollywood’s Jessica Chastain.

With comedian Joel Creasey co-hosting the news and current affairs talk show, this Sunday’s episode will see veteran journalist and presenter Lisa Wilkinson’s long-awaited debut.

After quitting her top-job at Nine’s Today show, the brunette beauty soon later announced she had landed the job on the panel and had reportedly secured a $2.3 million salary to front the show and helm the new digital site Ten Daily for Channel 10.
