Lisa Wilkinson made Prince’s longtime producer Morris Hayes blush during a cheeky interview on The Project on Thursday.

‘Just by the by, my favourite cover of a Prince song was Tom Jones’ version of Kiss,’ she began, before pausing and choosing her words carefully.

She then added with a laugh: ‘That was… I was going to say ball-tearer, I won’t say that. That was brilliant!’

Her candid comment elicited a quiet laugh from Morris, 58, who agreed that Tom’s cover was ‘fantastic’.

He then recounted running into Tom, 81, at the MTV Music Awards one year, where he spoke about being a huge fan of the late Purple Rain hitmaker.

‘I’m looking around the room like, “Oh man, this is cool!” There’s Paul McCartney and Paul comes over and puts his hand on my shoulder and tells Prince, “Prince, I understand you are doing one of my songs, Long and Winding Road.”

‘I’m looking at his hand going, “That’s a Beatle, that’s his hand right there!”‘
