Lisandro Martinez edging closer to Man United return as he shares running video and insists he is ‘back to 100 per cent’ after broken foot
- Martinez picked up the injury against Sevilla in April and it cut his season short
- He had formed a positive partnership with Raphael Varane in the United defence
- The club are still looking to sign a centre back during the summer window
Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez has shared footage of a recent training session as he edges closer to a return.
The Argentina star has been out of action since April after breaking his foot during the Red Devils’ Europa League quarter-final tie against Sevilla, with his debut campaign in England ending prematurely.
He shared footage of a running session with the caption ‘vamos’, which translates to ‘let’s go’, and United also shared an update on their website that a return is on the horizon.
Martinez made 45 appearances for United in his debut season with the club, becoming a fan favourite as he formed a formidable partnership at centre-back with Raphael Varane.
Injury may have cut his season short, but it appears likely that he’ll be fit for the start of next season, with United to face Wolves at home in the first game of the campaign.

He went onto post on his Twitter account that he is ‘so happy to be back [to] 100 per cent’ after two months out.
United will begin their pre-season campaign in July, facing relegated Leeds in their first friendly on the 12th.
They’ll also take on the likes of Arsenal, Wrexham and Real Madrid before getting their league season underway.

The Red Devils are still looking to sign a centre-back amid doubts over the futures of Harry Maguire (pictured) and Victor Lindelof
Despite the success of Varane and Martinez last season, United are looking to add another centre-back to their ranks with the futures of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof unclear.
Lindelof had a good end to the season, but may look for first team football, and club captain Maguire is incredibly out of favour with Luke Shaw often preferred to him in the team.
With it looking like the Red Devils will miss out on Bayern Munich-bound Kim-min Jae, they are reported to be keeping an eye on Juventus’ Gleison Bremer, though face competition from Tottenham and Chelsea.
Bremer is a versatile right-sided centre-back, who made 30 league appearances for Juventus last season after signing from their local rivals Torino, where he spent four years.
